About the EKU Staff Council
In March 2002, to give EKU’s employees better channels for communication with the administration, President Glasser assembled a steering committee to develop a Staff Council. The committee reviewed similar organizations at several other institutions, and then prepared a set of guidelines and bylaws to meet our own needs. The Board of Regents approved the Staff Council in 2003.
Purpose: To foster communication and serve as a communication conduit between staff and the President, provide recommendations on matters pertaining to staff, and promote the welfare of all staff through professional development and formal recognition while serving the Mission of the University.

- The bylaws for the Staff Council specify that one-third of the seats
shall be up for reelection each year, so that four representatives elected
in this inaugural election will serve one-year terms, four will serve
two-year terms and four will serve for three years. At the recent meeting
of the Board of Regents, a double-blind drawing produced the following
results that will apply to the current election only:
- One year terms--Athletics/Development/Arlington; Custodians; Financial
Affairs/Administration; Student Affairs/Public Safety.
- Two year terms--Colleges of A&S and B&T; Continuing Educ. & Outreach/Planetarium;
Enrollment Management; Maintenance and Skilled Trades.
- Three year terms--College of Education/Library; Colleges of Health
Sciences and Justice & Safety/DOCJT; ITDS/Media Resources; Training
Resource Center.
